Todd Voss will replace Mike Hall as the boys varsity basketball coach at Fort Atkinson.

Voss spent the past two seasons as the head coach at Palmyra-Eagle. The Panthers, who have struggled to remain competitive in the Rock Valley Conference for the better part of the past decade, went 7-35 the past two seasons.

"When I took over at Palmyra-Eagle, we had no youth program in place," Voss said. "We now have a youth program going so I think Im leaving the program in pretty good shape.

"Im excited about the move to Fort Atkinson after spending 16 years at Palmyra-Eagle. I live in Fort Atkinson and it is the best educational system in this whole area. The program has been down a bit the past two seasons, but there is a very good sophomore class at the school that were excited about."

Catholic Memorials Conor Smith has received a scholarship offer from American University, a NCAA Division I school located in Washington D.C.

Smith, a 6-foot-8 small forward with a very accurate perimeter shooting stroke, is also receiving strong interest from Rice, Holy Cross, Princeton, Miami (Ohio) and UW-Green Bay.

Kyle Brumett is the new men's basketball coach at Lakeland College.

Brumett served as an assistant coach at DePauw University in Greencastle, Ind., the past seven seasons. Like Lakeland, DePauw is a NCAA Division III school.

Prior to joining the staff at DePauw, Brumett spent one season as an assistant coach to current Tennessee coach Bruce Pearl at Southern Indiana in the late 1990s.

"I'm excited about this opportunity to be in charge of my own program," Brumett said in a press release from Lakeland. "This has been a goal of mine for a long time - to become the head coach of a Division III basketball team."

DePauw was 121-62 and won three Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference championships during Brumett's seven seasons on staff.

Lakeland finished 21-6 in 2005-06 and won the final Lake Michigan Conference regular season title under Gary Grzesk, who left the school last month to become the new head coach at St. Norbert College. The Muskies won 20 games for the first time in over a decade, and returned to the NCAA Division III Midwest Region Poll for the first time since 2002-03.

Lakeland joins the new 12-school Northern Athletics Conference this fall.
