Mike Jossie has had the unique privilege of working under two of the premier coaches in Wisconsin basketball over the past decade.

For the past two seasons, Jossie has been the junior varsity and varsity assistant coach under Joel Claassen at Milwaukee Pius XI.

Prior to his stint under Claassen, Jossie spent four years observing former Wisconsin coach Dick Bennett as one of the managers for the Badger program.

Now, Jossie will put all his acquired knowledge to use as the new varsity boys basketball coach at West Allis Central.

"I am delighted and enthusiastic about the opportunities before me and am thankful to my former players and coaches for allowing this dream of mine to become a reality," Jossie said. "As a staff, we have an obligation to the players, administrators, student body and community to make sure they have a basketball program they can be proud of."

Jossie inherits a program that went 5-16 overall and 3-11 in the Greater Metro Conference last season under Todd Hencsik. Hencsik went 10-53 in three yeas at Central before resigning in March to spend more time as an assistant principal at Milwaukee Bradley Tech.

Central returns several top players from a year ago, including second-team all-league pick Jeff Barczak and guard Chris Perleberg.

Jossie played high school basketball for one of northern Wisconsins most respected coaches in Todd Carlson at Suring.

Scheidt served as an assistant coach under Steve Swan at West last season. Swan, the former UW-Green Bay assistant coach, was an interim coach in 2005-06 for the Wildcats, who finished 13-8 overall and 10-4 in the Fox River Valley Conference.
