Sarah Eichler (Grafton) scored her 1000th point against Hartford last Tuesday.  The 5 11 senior has scored these 1000 points in only three years at Grafton, which makes the feat even more impressive.  The numbers this UW-GB recruit is putting up are as big as the season her team is having at this point.  She has over 300 points so far this season, is shooting 59% from the field and is averaging 10 rebounds and 4 steals per game.  "Sarah is the most intense competitor I ve ever coached," Grafton head coach Bob Maronde stated.  "After a recent game in which we did not play well, Sarah waited around for me after the game and asked if there was anything she could do to help make us better.  This was after she scored 33 points on 13 for 17 from the floor, 7 of 8 from the free throw line, had 12 rebounds, 6 steals and 5 assists.  She is a coach s dream."  Sarah plans on attending UW-GB on a basketball scholarship and wants to pursue a career in forensic investigation.

Megan Wenig (OshKosh West) also scored her 1000th point last week in a game against Neenah on Jan. 30th for Oshkosh West.  Her 1000th point came on a 15 foot pull-up jumper during a fast break with 4 minutes left in the second quarter.  The 5 7 senior is only the fourth player in West history to reach this milestone and joins the likes of Patti Peppler-Kimball, Meredith Onson and Savanna Anderson.  Megan is averaging almost 17 points per game this season as West tries to stay in the hunt for the Fox Valley Association League title.

Lindsay Walter (pictured), the 5 10 senior from Slinger, also joined the 1000 point club last week as she became the third player in Slinger history to reach that prestigious milestone.  She now only trails all-time leading scorer Cassie Scheubert, who scored 1,246 points for Slinger for her career.  We will be keeping a close eye on Lindsay to see if she can catch Cassie this season.  Katie Raymond (Westfield) is another girl that joined the 1000 point club last week in a game against Wisconsin Dells.  She becomes the first girl in Westfield basketball to do so.   Amy Suralski (Winter) scored her 1000th point last week in a game against Cornell.

Seniors Step Up with Big Games –

Sam Barber of DC Everest (pictured)
continues to impress by putting up big numbers.  Last Friday she scored 25 points, had 10 rebounds and 8 steals in a comeback win against Wausau West.  Fourteen of Barber s points came in the second quarter as the Evergreens tried to dig out of 22-7 first quarter deficit.  With that big second quarter, Everest went into the half trailing by only one and ended up winning the game by a score of 59-54.  Chantel Newman (St. Thomas More) had a big week last week as she scored 29 points,  had 10 rebounds and was 12 for 12 from the free throw line in a win against St. Francis.  She was an impressive 18 for 18 from the free throw line last week.  Katey Wrobel the 6 1" senior from Osseo-Fairchild, helped give O-F a two game conference lead by putting up 29 points in their win against Altoona.  She was 12 for 14 shooting from the field and was 5 for 7 from the free throw line.

Recruiting news…

Speaking of Katey Wrobel, she has committed to Minnesota-Moorhead, a D2 school in Moorhead, MN.  The Dragons are 16-4 this season to date.  Wrobel s teammate, Laura Petersen, a 5 11" senior, has also made her college choice.  She will be attending University of Mary; a D2 school is Bismark, North Dakota.  Both girls will be receiving basketball scholarships at their respective schools.  Kimee Chandler (Pecatonica) is also getting close to making her college choice.  She has been offered a basketball scholarship by Loyola University in Chicago and also by UW-Milwaukee.  We ll keep an eye out for what she decides.
