Schools are starting to hold graduation ceremonies, Memorial Day is past, and allergy season is in full swing.  That can only mean one thing:  the WIAA spring baseball playoffs are about to get started.  Regional games begin Friday night, May 29th, and the seedings and pairings have been announced for Divisions 2 through 4.

That also means that summer baseball is getting started.  In fact, there were a number of games held Saturday, including some tournament action.

Summer coaches, players, fans, and parents, make sure to get your team's roster and schedule in to us as soon as possible via the Contact Us option (where you'll also find our General email address to send Word or Excel files if you need to).

It's never too late for team previews, so here's one for the Hortonville Polar BearsOshkosh West is hoping the lessons learned over a tough Fox Valley Association schedule (they site in second place currently) will help them back to their first state tournament since 1998.

La Crosse Central remains on top of the latest (and final) WBCA Coaches Poll, even though they split a recent doubleheader with Eau Claire North.  So what makes the Red Raiders so good?  Todd Sommerfeldt of the La Crosse Tribune, and soon a featured writer on WisSports.net, takes a look.

So what makes Algoma so good?  Scott Venci of the Green Bay Press-Gazette, who was saved a horrifying basketball to the face by the quick hands of this writer at the girls state tournament, takes a look.

Altoona remained unbeaten and also clinched an outright Cloverbelt-West title with a solid win over McDonell Central on Friday.  Kimberly also solidified an outright conference championship in the FVA with a run-rule win over Oshkosh West last Tuesday.  Eau Claire Memorial got tripped up by intra-city rival Eau Claire North Thursday night, but still had something to smile about when a Hudson loss clinched them at least a share of the Big Rivers title.

Other teams to clinch conference championships included Marathon (Marawood-North) with a hard-fought 3-0 win over Stratford, and Reedsburg (their third straight Badger-North title) with a 7-2 win over DeForestMedford didn't secure a conference crown last Thursday, but they won in exciting fashion nonetheless.
