It's hard to believe, but we're only two weeks away from the start of the WIAA Spring Baseball Playoffs, with some of the seeding meetings occurring as early as this weekend.

Fox Valley Lutheran
is atop the very competitive Eastern Valley Conference right now, and the Appleton Post-Crescent takes a look at the Foxes squad.  McDonell Central has a young team, but still competing hard for a shot at the top of the Cloverbelt-West.

The Central Wisconsin Conference races for both the -8 and -10 divisions are starting to sort themselves out. Meanwhile in the Marawood-South Conference, Stratford and Marathon are duking it out, with the Tigers from Stratford looking to gain a share of their first title since 2001. A game next Monday against Marathon will likely determine the outcome of the conference race. The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel has the goings-on in the Milwaukee area. Altoona has jumped to #1 in the latest WBCA poll, with a big game against Osseo-Fairchild tonight.

Senior outfielder Ryne Baehman and senior hurler Alec Jalovec have helped Oshkosh Lourdes to a solid season, and put the Knights in the running for a Trailways-North title. Here's a profile of Newman baseball and track athlete Luke Gajewski. La Crosse Central's Lucas Warren will attend Winona State University.

Several game writeups are included here, including one on Waupun's extra inning win over Wisconsin Lutheran that put the Warriors in a position to win a conference title for the first time since 1983. Speaking of extra innings, the Ashland Oredockers had to go to extra frames to get by Virginia (MN) on Monday. The Green Bay Press-Gazette has a rundown of area games from Tuesday night.

Derek Wegerer hit a grand slam, his second homer of the game, with two outs in the bottom of the sixth inning to put Owen-Withee ahead for good in their 8-5 win over Colby on Tuesday. Recaps of Fox Valley Association games from Tuesday can be found here. WEAU TV13 out of Eau Claire has their video wrapup of Tuesday's action. Reedsburg slid into first place in the Badger-North with a win over Waunakee Tuesday.

One of the best and biggest games of the year was decided by missed squeeze play attempts.  However, in the Pecatonica-Barneveld game Monday night, those missed bunt attempts turned into two runs for Pec thanks to errors by Barneveld.
