Being able to compete on the same team as a sibling is a special privilege few people get to enjoy.  For the brothers Ellenbecker of Athens, they can count three siblings on the squad.  Kyle, Andy, and Mike Ellenbecker make up one-third of the Bluejays lineup.

Wisconsin Rapids was humbled by a 16-0 loss to Wausau West on Tuesday, but they still have a shot in the Wisconsin Valley Conference race.  Eau Claire Immanuel Lutheran only played 14 games last year, but with better weather and an expanded schedule this season, the Lancers are flying high at 12-1 overall and ranked number seven in the latest WBCA poll.  The same article also mentions Bruce coaching legend Larry Villiard picking up his 400th victory recently.

Brandon Lalk of Oshkosh North is profiled by the Oshkosh Northwestern.  The Wisconsin State Journal takes a look at ...well... what to look for as we head for the home stretch of the baseball season.  Check out the Green Bay Press-Gazette for their area stats and standings leaderboard.

HodagSports.com is a website devoted to athletics in Rhinelander, with much of the coverage going to the high school sports teams.  Perusing school and team websites as often as I do for scores, schedules, and other information, I can say this is the best independent site I've come across devoted to athletics from a particular school.  They have recaps, scores, and more from every game, and even do audio and occasional video broadcasts.  Play-by-play from many games are archived as well.  It's a great site, and you should check it out, especially if considering creating a site for your team/school.

In a great teaching opportunity arising from a difficult situation, the Black River Falls baseball team had to forfeit a recent win over Westby due to a rules infraction.  The Tigers used a pitcher past the seven innings-in-three-days criteria, and Coach Dave Johnson was very up-front and honest about the situation.  "It was my mistake," he told the La Crosse Tribune.  Everyone is going to make mistakes, though you try your best to prevent them.  How you handle your mistakes goes a long way in determining who you really are.  Kudos to Coach Johnson for accepting responsibility and hopefully the Tigers can move on positively from this.

La Farge's Jordan Greenland is making quite a name for himself in the small community in southwestern Wisconsin.  And baseball people from around the country are starting to take notice.  Jordan's name has also been retroactively added to our No-Hitter List, which features several additions in recent days.

In FVA action, Oshkosh West won Monday to force a three-way tie at the top of the standings, but an upset defeat at the hands of Appleton North knocked the Wildcats down.  Their loss was Kimberly's gain, as the Papermakers shutout Menasha to move into sole possession of first.  Elsewhere in the Fox Valley area, Ashwaubenon broke open a tie game in the 8th inning to knock off Notre Dame, one day after giving up a late lead on a grand slam from De Pere's Garret Greenway and losing to the Redbirds.  Meanwhile in northeast Wisconsin action, Coleman picked up a couple wins to stay atop the Marinette & Oconto Conference.

Heading to the Chippewa Valley area of northwest Wisconsin, Altoona knocked off McDonell Central to stay perfect in the Cloverbelt-West.  Chippewa Falls forced a split with Eau Claire Memorial in doubleheader action Monday behind Cole Zwiefelhofer, who hit for the cycle in the second game.

Wauankee is rolling along after picking up four victories in the past week.  Watertown Luther Prep scored a 1-0 win over Waterloo in a classic pitcher's duel last Friday.

Finally, don't forget to check out our Statewide Scoreboard...and help with missing scores.
