Baseball Round-Up; Help With Missing Scores/Re-schedule Games

It'll be a bit of an abbreviated edition today, as Mother Nature kicked up the last few days resulting in a number of cancellations throughout the state.  Speaking of those cancellations, we would certainly appreciate help in keeping up with the re-schedule dates.  If you know of any dates, please use the Contact Us form to update us.  Along the same lines, we've created a page with a listing of the scores we're missing.  If you know any of the scores, please use the previously mentioned form to send in the information.

As Nick mentioned previously, the Wisconsin Baseball Coaches Association released their first Coaches Poll a couple days ago.  Check it out here.  The Wisconsin Rapids Tribune has some more team previews up on their site.

Waupaca senior Nate Tomlinson wants to make it to the Big Leagues, but not in the traditional way.  Former Auburndale hurler Jordan Zimmerman has made it the Majors (the traditional way), and on Monday night made his debut.  He represented his school, community, family, and the state of Wisconsin very well in picking up the win.  As many people know, the WIAA allowed an expanded schedule this year, from 20 games to 26 games.  One of the consequences of that move was the need for more pitching.

The list of no-hitters thrown this year continues to grow.  La Crosse Central pitcher Lucas Warren joined the crowd on Friday in a big way.  His no-no in the first game of a double-header versus Eau Claire Memorial helped propel the third-ranked Red Raiders to a sweep of the fifth-ranked Old Abes.  Here's a round-up of Fox Valley Association action last Friday.  Fond du Lac won their own tournament on Saturday, while De Pere swept a double-header against Pulaski to remain unbeaten on the year, and Rosholt's Nick Yenter went six shutout innings allowing just one hit versus Wild Rose.  It was actually the first hit Yenter had given up in three appearances, and oh yeah....he's only a freshman.
