Former Kenosha Bradford and Minnesota State-Mankato defensive back Justin Belotti (5-11, 200) has informed WisFootball.net that he will be transferring to the University of North Dakota.
"I am in the process of transferring to D-I North Dakota right now," Belotti said. "Feels like the right move to make."
"I'm going up there this week to start camp," he said.
A strong safety who totaled two solo tackles and one assisted tackle infive games as a true freshman last season, Belotti said the FightingSioux plan to keep him at the same position.
"They project me to stay at strong (safety). I'll have to redshirt thisseason because of being ineligibility, but it's okay because I didn'tredshirt last season so I can still use mine."
Belotti also indicated that he will be earning a scholarship while at UND.
A 2007 graduate of Kenosha Bradford High School, Belotti was ranked byWisFootball.net as the No. 22 overall prospect and No. 3 wide receiverin the state coming out of high school.
A standout on offense, defense and special teams, Belotti was named WFCA honorable-mention all-state, Kenosha News first-team all-county, Milwaukee Journal Sentinelhonorable-mention all-area and first-team all-conference at widereceiver as a senior after hauling in 49 receptions for 610 yards and10 touchdowns. Also a Kenosha News honorable-mention all-countyselection at defensive back, Belotti tallied 65 tackles during the 2006season. He also averaged 28.8 yards per punt return and 17 yards perkick return.
Belotti won the Alan Ameche Award as the Kenosha County Player of the Year and also played in WFCA All-Star Game as a senior.
Belotti had originally committed to Minnesota State-Mankato over ascholarship offer from South Dakota State and interest from WesternMichigan, Eastern Illinois, North Dakota State, Pennsylvania andNorthern State.
