Offer for Gardner and interest for Watkins

-Another member of Homestead High School s defensive line has receiveda scholarship offer. First it was Shelby Harris who garnered an offerfrom the University of Wisconsin and subsequently verbally committedand now defensive end Ben Gardner (6-4, 225) has picked up his first scholarship offer thanks to a Division I FCS school.



"I just received my first scholarship offer from South Dakota StateUniversity after talking with their head coach tonight," Gardner toldWisFootball.net via e-mail Wednesday evening.



Gardner reported a 4.79-second 40-yard dash, 4.34-second shuttle,114-inch broad jump and 33-inch vertical jump. He also said he canbench press 225-pounds eight times.



-Madison Edgewood offensive lineman/defensive lineman Ian Watkins (6-3, 275) has taken unofficial visits to Harvard, Yale and Pennsylvania.



In addition, Harvard and Yale also requested film from the first few games of Watkins senior season.



An all-Madison team and second-team all-conference offensive lineman, Watkins also earned WFCA all-Southwest region, Capital Times first-team all-area, Wisconsin State Journalsecond-team all-area, and unanimous first-team all-conference honors onthe defensive line last season. He had 14 tackles for loss and eightsacks.



Watkins is ranked as the No. 11 offensive lineman in the class of 2009 by WisFootball.net.
