In yesterday's WisFootball Wispers column about Chilton tight end/defensive end Justin Juckem and his scholarship offer from North Dakota it was mentioned that Juckem may be the state's first member of the class of 2009 to garner an offer from the Fighting Sioux, but he certainly wouldn't be the last.

Well it appears that prediction has already come true as West Allis Hale linebacker Brian Otto (6-1, 210) has garnered his first scholarship offer thanks to UND.

"Brian got his first offer last night. Coach Rod Carey called Coach Otto and said they were going to offer Brian a full ride scholarship. Brian called them back and talked to Coach Carey and Coach (Chris) Mussman and Coach Mussman offered a full scholarship to Brian," West Allis Hale head coach Scott Otto said in an e-mail to WisFootball.net.

In what appears to be a class stacked at the linebacker position, Otto is the state's sixth linebacker from the class of 2009 to receive a scholarship offer joining Oconomowoc's Paul Swan (Bowling Green commit), Hartford Union's Tyler Dippel (Stanford, Central Michigan, Western Michigan, Illinois State), Madison La Follette's Ross Elliott (Western Michigan), Kenosha Bradford's Cordero Finley (South Dakota), and Kimberly's A.J. Klein (Iowa State, Western Michigan, Northern Illinois, Wyoming).

The No. 19 overall prospect and No. 4 linebacker in the class of 2009, Otto has also received interest from Illinois, Iowa, Wisconsin, Purdue, Iowa State, Akron, Miami (Ohio), Northern Illinois, Central Michigan, UNLV, Wyoming, Army, Navy, North Dakota State, Northern Iowa, South Dakota State, Youngstown State, Western Illinois, Eastern Illinois and South Dakota.

A standout sophomore in 2006, Otto received CNI Newspapers honorable-mention all-suburban and honorable-mention all-conference honors. He followed that up with a junior campaign in which he earned Milwaukee Journal Sentinel honorable-mention all-area, CNI Newspapers first-team all-suburban and first-team all-conference recognition.

Otto finished the 2007 season with 86 solo tackles, 24 assisted tackles, 12.5 tackles for loss and six sacks.

Otto reported a 4.75-second 40-yard dash, 4.5-second pro agility, 29-inch vertical jump, 225-pound bench press, 530-pound squat and 335-pound hang clean.
