Week 3 team performances:

Seymour – The Thunder showed well last week, cruising through their three game conference slate (Marinette, New London and Luxemburg-Casco). Each game proved to be a test, coming out on top in two of their three contests by only a one goal margin. With their current win streak, Seymour is now 4-1-1 on the season.

Winneconne – The Wolves stayed even with Eastern Valley Conference leaders Xavier and Little Chute with a victory over Clintonville, bringing their conference record to 2-0-0 to maintain a three way tie for first place. In the non-conference match-up with Wautoma, Winneconne easily prevailed, putting on an offensive show, recording an 8 to 0 victory. The Wolves get back in to Eastern Valley play when they play Freedom.

Saint Lawrence Seminary – After getting a late start to the season, playing its’ first game of the 2011 soccer year on the 29th of August, the Hilltoppers wasted no time in recording their first victory by defeating Lomira 7 to 2. In their last two matches Saint Lawrence Seminary bested its’ opposition by a combine total of 8 goals to 1. The hot start makes the Hilltoppers a perfect 3 and 0 on the year.

East Troy – With many teams around the state diving head first in to their conference schedules, winning early conference games becomes vital for teams vying in a title race. For the Trojans this is no exception. East Troy had two important Rock Valley matches in week three. Against Whitewater, the Trojans eased past the Whippets 4 to 0 before defeating Greenfield 2 to 1 later in the week. The headline match with McFarland had huge Rock Valley implications. With an impressive start to the match the Trojans burst out to a 4-0 lead by the end of the first half. McFarland would come back in the game, scoring three second half goals. East Troy managed to weather the Spartan comeback, prevailing 4 to 3. East Troy now sits tied with Evansville for the Conference lead.

Kenosha Tremper – The Kenosha Tremper Trojans came in to week three undefeated on the season (5-0-1). After week three concluded, the Trojans remained perfect with a sound 6 to 1 victory over fellow Southeast member Racine Horlick in the beginning of the week. Against Nicolet, they had the same result, this time winning 3 to 1. In their final and arguably the most difficult game, the Trojans took on a very competitive Green Bay Preble team. In the contest Tremper was able to keep the Hornets off the scoreboard posting a well-deserved 1 to 0 victory of a quality non-conference opponent. Kenosha Tremper is now 8-0-1 on the season and on top of the Southeast Conference standings.

Week 3 player performances:

John Klein, Winnebago Lutheran – It is easy to overlook the contributions of this forward/midfielder when you are on the same team as the state’s leading goal scorer, Aaron Calkins. In the Vikings 8 games on the season, Calkins has scored 28 goals. However someone has to distribute the ball for Calkins to score and that person has been John Klein. In their four games last week Klein has shown his ability to not only score but pass the ball, providing the team with 4 goals and 5 assists in four victories for the Vikings. Klein leads his team with 6 assists on thttp://admin.wissports.net/newsEdit.asp?sportID=3he year.

Sean Lenz, Mukwonago – Over Mukwonago’s four game stretch, Sean Lenz was able to score a team high 6 goals and add 1 assist. In their first two games, Lenz accounted for all of his team’s offensive output, scoring three goals in 2 to 3 and 1 to 2 defeats. In the Next two games, resulting in victories for the Indians, Sean put in a pair of goals and a lone assist.

Adam Lambeseder, Milwaukee Reagan/WCLL – The Huskies are team known more for their offensive prowess than their defense, averaging just over 4 goals per game. This trend changed over the last three games, only scoring 2.3 goals per match. Despite this small lull in their scoring output, the Huskies still have been able to win. This was due in large put to goalkeeper Adam Lambeseder. Lambeseder, in the last week, saved an average of 7 shots on goal while giving up a miniscule 0.3 goals allowed in three victories.

Tanner Manninen, Campbellsport – In two pivotal games against the top two teams in the Eastern Wisconsin Conference, the cougars needed someone to step up their game and provide that spark needed to keep them in the conference contention. That person was Tanner Manninen. In the two games against Sheboygan Falls and Plymouth, the Campbellsport senior forward scored 4 goals and 1 assist in two big conference victories. The wins bring Campbellsport in to a four way tie for first place in conference.

Zack Nelson, Lodi – If you were to ask anyone on the Lodi Blue Devils soccer team how to describe Zack Nelson, I am sure they would say, generous. As evident in his gifts he wrapped and delivered for his teammates in their two games. In a game against Richland Center, Nelson had a hand, or should I say, a foot, in all four the Lodi’s goals. Against Dodgeville/Mineral Point, Nelson showed that was more than just an assist machine, scoring a goal and adding yet another assist, in a 3 to 0 win.
