Team Performances:

University School – With a perfect week, both in terms of wins and scores (not conceding a single goal), the Wildcats pulled atop of the Midwest Classic North conference. On Thursday University School had a non-conference warm-up against Lake Mills, and made quick work of the L-Cats pouring in 5 first half goals in route to a 9 to 0 thrashing of Lake Mills. In their two conference games earlier in the week, the Wildcats showed just how dominating they were, dispatching both foes by the same 4 to 0 score line. University School now has three conference games remaining on their schedule.

Mount Horeb – All season long Mount Horeb has been consistently good. So it is no surprise that the Vikings put together yet another successful week of soccer. Even though the Vikings did not play a single conference game, they were able to impress by defeating a couple quality Big 8 Conference opponents, avenging two early season losses to Big 8 members Middleton and Madison West, who gave Mount Horeb their only two blemishes on the season. In dominating fashion, Mount Horeb cruised past an overmatched Wisconsin Heights squad 11 to 1 before entering the meat of their week 5 schedule. In Those two games, the Vikings found a way to prevail, defeating Verona and Madison East 3 to 1 and 1 to 0 respectively.

New Berlin West – The Vikings have made a drastic turnaround to their season. Through the first 7 games of their schedule, New Berlin West went winless (0-1-6). Since August 28th, West has been un-fire, winning four of the last five games. Last week that hot streak continued. New Berlin West not only won their games but did so it convincing style. In four games they outscored their opposition 21 to 2. Most importantly, the Vikings now find themselves within striking distance of a conference championship. Currently they are tied with Pewaukee at 5-1-0 in the Woodland standings. Pivotal seasons finally match-up with Pewaukee might just decide who the Conference Champion is heading into the playoffs.

Washburn – Washburn has been playing in relative obscurity, being located so far North and playing such an ambiguous schedule. It is hard to gauge what kind of team Washburn is. However their play on the field has spoken volumes. Despite only playing 8 matches this far into the season, the Castle Guard has shown that they can win. In their last two contests, they were able come out on top, beating Barron in a tough 3 to 2 victory before exploding for 9 goals against Phelps in a 9 to 0 win. On the season Washburn has only suffered one loss but after week 5, their win total increased by two, bringing them to 6-1-1. The Castle Guard can only play who is on their schedule, and so far, they have managed to win a majority of those games. That is all you can ask for.

Milwaukee Bradley Tech – Defense proved key for Bradley Tech in last week’s three game win streak. The Trojans saw a reoccurring theme in all of their score lines. The number 0 appeared to dominate the scoreboard for their opponents. Three shutouts paved the way for three victories, as Tech rolled their conference foes. The Trojans, thanks to last week’s performances, sit atop of the Milwaukee City Conference with an undefeated 4-0-0 record.

Player Performances:

Jordan Kayser, Elkhorn – Elkhorn has won 12 straight games, getting contributions from a variety of players including Chandler Kayser and Jonathan Stopple. Most recently the Elks have had another player step up their level of play. Jordan Kayser. Kayser has been the Elks leading goal scorer, with 5, and the leader in assists, with 3 over their last four games. Despite having a talented deep roster, Jordan is the team’s leading point getter on the season.

Chris Paulino, Aquinas – In week 4, it was Shane Hanna who got the recognition. In week 5, it was Chris Paulino’s turn. The two have been a formidable duo on the year, but Paulino managed stand out most recently. In three games, Chris scored 8 goals and pinched in 2 assists as the Blugolds continued their winning ways.

Antonio Gonzalez, East Troy – The Trojan senior, Antonio Gonzalez could be labeled as an equal opportunist on the soccer field. Last week Gonzalez showed no hesitation in sharing the ball with his teammates and it did not matter who it was, distributing 4 assists to three different players. Gonzalez was not completely selfless, as he added 4 of his own goals adding to his team leading point total.

Eric Piering, Heritage Christian – The Patriots play last week was a little inconsistent, splitting two games with Martin Luther and Milwaukee Hamilton. Individually, Eric Piering’s performance was anything but inconsistent. His offensive output in that two game stretch resulted in 5 goals and 1 assist helping the Patriots to one victory and while keeping them alive in an eventual defeat.

Sam Bischman, Whitefish Bay – Bischman scored 5 of Whitefish Bay’s 7 total goals in two games last week. That is 71percent of the Blue Dukes offense. His production helped produce two wins for Whitefish Bay. Bischman has quietly been Blue Dukes offensive star all season.
