Brittney Fair, Nicolet girls basketball -- The Knights took home the title at the prestigious Rathke Memorial Tournament in Franklin last week, scoring wins over a trio of teams ranked in the top ten of their respective divisions. Fair is averaging 20.5 points per game on the season as Nicolet is unbeaten and ranked #2 in Division 1.

Kayla Hanley, Chippewa Falls girls basketball -- Chippewa Falls went 2-0 at the Big Rivers-Wisconsin Valley Challenge last week and Hanley was a big reason why. She helped the Cardinals to a fast start in the first game against Wisconsin Rapids, as Falls raced to a 20-5 first quarter lead and took a 35-13 advantage into halftime before pulling away for a dominating 58-31 win. She led the way with 17 points. In the second game against D.C. Everest, Hanley helped the Cardinals rally for a 52-39 win, scoring 11.

Kelly Knetter, Central Wisconsin Storm girls hockey -- The Storm went 2-1 against some of Minnesota's top teams at the Rochester Tournament last week, with all three games decided by just one goal. The Storm opened the tourney with a tight 3-2 loss to Orono (MN), although Knetter did find the back of the net in that one. The Storm jumped out to an early 4-1 lead in the next game against Winona (MN) and held on for a 5-4 win, with Knetter tallying one goal and one assist. In the final game of the weekend the Storm claimed a 2-1 victory over Mahtomedi (MN), with Knetter providing an assist.

Michael Stevens, Verona boys hockey -- 4th-ranked Verona had an impressive performance in winning the Evergreen Holiday Hockey Tournament with wins over Lakeland 10-2, #9 Green Bay United 4-1 & a 7-0 shut out of #6 DC Everest to claim the title. Stevens tallied four goals and two assists in the three games as the Wildcats moved to 10-1 on the season.

Matt Thomas, Onalaska boys basketball -- The Hilltoppers have been ranked #1 in Division 2 all season, and showed why at the Wisconsin Basketball Yearbook Shootout last week with a pair of solid wins. Thomas also showed why he is considered one of the top players in the state and deserving of the multitude of Division I offers and attention he has gotten. He scored 27 against Oshkosh North, including nine in the pivotal fourth period that turned a 41-38 deficit into a 59-51 victory. He followed up that sterling showing by making six-of-seven shots and scoring 17 points in the first half against Sun Prairie, triggering a dominating 40-12 halftime lead over the Cardinals. Thomas finished with 21 as the Hilltoppers cruised to a 56-36 victory.
