Brittney Fair of Nicolet has been selected as the Army National Guard Athlete of the Week for the week of December 26th-January 1 following a statewide vote on WisSports.net. Fair was huge as the Knights took home the title at the prestigious Rathke Memorial Tournament. She was chosen from a strong group of nominees last week. Fair received 386 votes, or 40.1% of the total votes cast, narrowly edging Kelly Knetter of the Central Wisconsin Storm girls hockey team, who received 39.2% of the vote.

The Knights took home the title at the prestigious Rathke Memorial Tournament in Franklin last week, scoring wins over a trio of teams ranked in the top ten of their respective divisions. In a 52-44 victory over host and D1 9th-ranked Franklin on Tuesday, Fair poured in 13 points. She followed that up with a 28-point performance in a 48-44 comeback win over Pius XI in a matchup of the last two Division 1 champions. In the tournament title game on Thursday, Fair hit a pair of three-pointers and went 5 for 6 from the line with 17 points total as the Knights held off Oshkosh Lourdes 50-39. Fair is averaging 20.5 points per game on the season as Nicolet is unbeaten and ranked #2 in Division 1.

Remember folks, the only way your favorite player can be named Army National Guard Athlete of the Week is to vote and share the word. Look for the next week's nominees to be posted Monday afternoon.
