For the second time this week, the Monroe boys hoops team went down on a buzzer-beater, and combined the two losses cost them a conference championship. On Tuesday it was Milton's Noah Johnson hitting a half-courter for a 44-41 win. Friday night, Edgewood's Connor McGinnis caught a pass in the corner and hit a fadeaway as the horn sounded for a 45-43 victory.
McGinnis finished with 8 points in the game.
With the loss, Monroe finished 7-5 in conference, one game behind co-champs Monona Grove and Stoughton. A win in just one of the tight games this week would have given the Cheesemakers a share of the crown.
