Alex Richard's layup at the buzzer lifted Kewaunee to a 60-58 win over East Troy.

East Troy jumped out to a 17-6 first quarter lead and led the Storm by 9 points at halftime. East Troy scored 17 of their 32 first half points off Kewaunee's 14 turnovers. Most of those turnovers came after senior Jill Kleiman picked up her second foul and went to the bench.

Senior Rachel Atchison led the Trojans with 10 first half points. Kewaunee senior Kelsey Stangel had 12 points and 7 rebounds at intermission.

The second half was a different story for Kewaunee, they scored 15 points off 10 East Troy turnovers and had a 6 point edge in the paint.

After shooting 37% from the floor in the first half the Storm shot 61% in the second half and finished 48% for the game.  They also made 11 of their 14 free throws in the contest.

East Troy made 56% of their shots for the game, including 69% in the second half but Kewaunee's ability to score off the Trojans turnovers in the second half and the stellar play of Stangel was the difference for the Storm.

Stangel finished with a game-high 27 points, 10 rebounds and 4 steals. Senior Alex Richard finished with 16 points and 4 rebounds for the Storm.

East Troy was led by Rachel Atchison who finished with 21 points on 8 of 11 shooting. Senior Breanna Gaspervich added 13 points, 4 assists and 4 steals for the Trojans.

Kewaunee wins the Division 3 WIAA state championship for the second straight season.
