Westosha Central's Sarah Fonk has been selected as the top senior Pitcher as part of the WSN Senior Softball Awards.

Fonk has been one of the state's top pitchers the last two years. She led the Falcons to the state tournament last season and finished with 10 strikeouts while giving up only 4 hits in a 9 inning 1-0 loss to Appleton East. The loss is her only loss the past two seasons.

She is 15-0 this year with a 0.32 ERA, 0.47 WHIP, and 156 strikeouts in 87 2/3 innings. Fonk has allowed only 4 earned runs this season and has held her opponents to a .120 batting average.

Fonk has two 5-inning perfect games this season. Her first came against Badger when she collected 10 strikeouts in the 12-0 victory on May 6th. She also tossed a perfect game against Wilmot which included 11 strikeouts in the 10-0 win on May 13th.

To go along with her stellar pitching she also carries a .500 batting average with a .803 slugging percentage while scoring 39 runs and collecting 26 RBI's.

Westosha Central (20-1) is the top-ranked team in Division 1 and will play last year's state runner-up Sun Prairie in the state quarterfinals on Thursday.

Fonk will play softball next year for the Badgers.

Finalists for the award were Fonk, Lauren Blasczyk of Appleton East, Kristen Hoppman from Sun Prairie, Delaney Osterday of Oconomowoc and Callie Troutfetter of Oshkosh West.

Kristen Wood of Wilmot won the award last season.
