La Crosse Logan ended one of the state's incredible streaks and did it in heart-pounding fashion, defeating Menomonie 25-21 on a 50-yard Hail Mary at the buzzer in a Division 2 Level 1 playoff game on Friday, October 19th, 2012.

In a back-and-forth affair, Menomonie converted a 4th and goal from the 13-yard line with just 22 seconds left, but Logan did not give up. With just seconds left on the clock, quarterback Mitch Schreiner rolled left then heaved it downfield. A Menomonie defender tipped it at around the 5-yard line, but it went right into the waiting hands of Logan's David Hellerud at the 2, and he stepped into the end zone for the improbable victory.

The loss snapped a 20-year run by Menomonie that saw them win at least one playoff game each season.
