Kettle Moraine Lutheran had already clinched an outright Flyway title and received the top seed in their regional, but Thursday's rivalry game against Saint Mary's Springs was still a big opportunity to gain momentum for the top-ranked Chargers.

After a pair of KML free throws tied the game at 56 with just 38 seconds remaining, Springs held the ball for the final shot, as head coach Kyle Krueger eschewed a timeout and instead let his players make a play. Collin Ottery controlled the ball most of the way, and as the clocked ticked down, drove on the right lane line, hoisting up a runner. The ball hit the backboard, then the front of the rim and bounced in the air. It settled into the bottom of the net with what officials ruled was 1.3 seconds remaining.

KML's desperation heave was off the mark, giving Springs a 58-56 victory.
