Division 3 Girls Basketball Semi-Final Notes: Madison Edgewood and Martin Luther advance to title game

Madison Edgewood cruises to win

Madison Edgewood defeated Wrightstown, 60-36, to advance to the Division 3 state championship on Saturday against Martin Luther. 

Wrightstown jumped out to a 7-0 lead, but Madison Edgewood outscored the Tigers 27-9 the rest of the half to take a 27-16 lead at the break. 

Edgewood led by as many as 24 points in the second half. Wrightstown trailed by just 12 with 7:27 to go, but Edgewood would not let them get any closer. 

Senior Brita Hovde, who came in averaging 3.3 points per game, finished with a game-high 14 points for Madison Edgewood, including 12 in the first half. 

Senior and Stanford recruit Estella Moschkau tallied 13 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 steals, and 3 blocks 

Seniors Bri Foti (12 points) and Katie Meriggioli (Bentley recruit, 10) also reached double-figures for the Crusaders. 

Wrightstown was led by junior Kailee Van Zeeland who finished with 12 points. Seniors Danielle Nennig (Purdue Northwest recruit) and Alisha Murphy (UW-Parkside recruit) contributed 11 and 10 points, respectively. 

Martin Luther's second half helps them advance to D3 title game

Martin Luther earned a spot in the Division 3 state championship game on Saturday, defeating Bloomer 56-38 at the Resch Center in Green Bay. 

Martin Luther led 28-21 at the half before opening the game up in the second half. 

Both teams shot 50 percent from the field in the first half, but Martin Luther shot 52.6 in the second half, while Bloomer shot just 31.6 percent. 

Sophomore Emma Kallas finished with a game-high 21 points, while shooting 10-for-14 from the first and making 1 of her 2 free throw attempts. 

Seniors Emily Hafemann and Grace Amling each tallied 10 points for the Spartans. 

Fellow senior Brooke Blazei contributed 5 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 assists in the win. 

Bloomer was led by senior Chandler Zwiefelhofer who finished with 15 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals.  

Martin Luther will play Madison Edgewood on Saturday for the Division 3 state championship. 

Attendance for the Thursday afternoon Division 3 session was 4,490.
