WBCA announces Division 5 Girls Basketball All-State Team

Shemera Williams headlines the 2017 Division 5 WBCA All-State Team as the lone unanimous selection. 

Williams and Karysn Rueth of Loyal are repeat first team all-state selections. 

Williams led Milwaukee Academy of Science to the first-ever trip to the state tournament and left the Resch Center with the Silver Ball. She averaged a state-high 31.6 points per game to go along with 8.3 rebounds, 9.2 assists and 5 steals per game for co-head coaches David David Ziegelbauer and Beth Gotstein and the Novas who finished the year with a 23-5 record. She already holds numerous Division I offers, including Wisconsin and Marquette. 

Rueth led Loyal to the Division 5 state championship in their first-ever trip to state. The UW-Oshkosh recruit averaged 15.5 points, 7.4 rebounds, 3.3 assists, 2 steals and 1.4 blocks per game for coach and father Mike Rueth and the Greyhounds who finished the year with a 25-4 record. 

Amber Baehmann of Tri-County led the Penguins to a 24-2 overall record and sectional semi-final appearance. She averaged 21 points, 12.7 rebounds, 5.7 assists, 3.6 steals and 1.6 blocks per game for coach Michael Vesperman and the Penguins. 

Kailey Ketz helped the Bears reach the state tournament for the second consecutive season and a 27-1 overall record. She averaged 16.2 points, 3.2 assists and 3.1 steals per game to go along with 79 three-pointers for coach Kevin Fall and the Bears. 

Brianna Leahy of Shullsburg led the Miners to a sectional final appearance and 22-4 overall record. She averaged 18.1 points, 11.8 rebounds and 5 blocks per game for coach Nathan Russell and the Miners. 

Alison Leslie of Clayton led the Bears to its second straight trip to the state tournament and only loss coming against Milwaukee Academy of Science in a state semi-final. She finished with the year averaging 16.2 points and 6.7 rebounds per game for the Bears. 

Natalie Leuzinger of Black Hawk led the Warriors to an undefeated regular season record and 21-1 overall record. The freshman posted 18 points, 5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.6 steals per game for coach Michael Flanagan and the Warriors. 

Morgan Reinwand of Loyal helped the Greyhounds capture the D5 state title. She led the team with 17.2 points, 4.4 assists, and 3.6 steals per game for the Greyhounds who finished the year with a 25-4 record. 

Jennifer Wendler of Owen-Withee averaged 23.8 points, 12.5 rebounds and 2.5 blocks per game for coach Al Guthman and the Blackhawks who finished the year with a 17-7 record. 

Emma Wittmershaus of Bangor led the Cardinals (24-4) to their first state tournament appearance since 1997. The UW-Milwaukee recruit averaged 15 points, 7.5 rebounds, 2 assists and 1.6 steals per game for coach Merlin Jones and the Cardinals.
