It is playoff time in spring sports, which amps up the pressure another notch, especially in late-game situations. For the Peshtigo baseball team, the season was on the line in the 10th inning of a Regional playoff game against Shawano.
Pitching dominated throughout, and the teams went through nine complete innings knotted at just one run apiece.
Shawano scratched across a run in the top of the 10th, putting the pressure on Peshtigo to respond, or go home.
And respond they did. Nick Nielson stepped to the plate with a pair of runners on base, and knocked a two-run, walk-off double to give the Bulldogs a 3-2 victory.
Peshtigo, the third seed in their Regional, advanced to take on second-seeded Marinette tonight.
