Offense

Dylan Hecker, Senior (Winneconne, Wis.), Running Back of UW-Oshkosh
Hecker rushed for 186 yards and three touchdowns to help No. 4-ranked UW-Oshkosh record a 23-17 road win over No. 8-ranked John Carroll University (Ohio) on Sept. 2. The contest was a rematch of last year’s semifinal round game of the NCAA Division III Championship, also won by UW-Oshkosh. Hecker carried the football 28 times, while catching one pass for six yards and completing his lone pass for five. He scored on touchdown runs of 2 and 69 yards in the second quarter and 11 in the third. The scores extended his UW-Oshkosh career record to 48 rushing touchdowns. After rushing for just six yards on five attempts during a scoreless first quarter, Hecker gained 97 yards on seven carries in the second quarter and 64 yards on 11 totes in the third. He rushed five times for 19 yards in the fourth period.

Defense
Luke Wilz, Sophomore (Manawa, Wis.), Linebacker of UW-Stout
Wilz had a strong performance in the season opener on Sept. 2, as UW-Stout blanked Simpson College, 17-0, in Indianola, Iowa. He finished the game with 12 total tackles, including five solo stops as the Storm were held to 62 rushing yards. It marked UW-Stout’s first shutout since a 31-0 victory over Jamestown College (N.D.) on Sept. 8, 2012.

Geisthardt averaged 41.5 yards on six punts and ran for a game-clinching first down to help No. 4-ranked UW-Oshkosh record a 23-17 road win over No. 8-ranked John Carroll University (Ohio) on Sept. 2. The contest was a rematch of last year’s semifinal round game of the NCAA Division III Championship, also won by UW-Oshkosh. Geisthardt had five of his punts downed inside the John Carroll University 20-yard line. His lone punt stopped outside the Blue Streaks’ 20-yard line was a 52-yard boot that landed at the John Carroll University 25. After John Carroll University cut the Titans’ lead to 23-17 with 3:24 to play, UW-Oshkosh faced a fourth-and-2 from its own 44-yard line with 2:21. Following John Carroll University’s last timeout of the contest, Geisthardt broke one tackle and ran four yards out of punt formation to seal the victory.
