Week 6 Team of the Week Nominees:

Bay Port -- The Pirates are in the midst of a very tough second half schedule, with things getting kicked off in an unbeaten showdown against Division 3's top-ranked team, Notre Dame. Bay Port trailed 21-7 in the second quarter before pulling within 21-14 at halftime. The second half belonged to the Pirates, as they outscored the Tritons 21-0 after the break to secure a 35-21 victory and remain in a tie for first place in the FRCC. Isaac Krause struggled a bit throwing the ball, tossing two interceptions, but he made up for it in a big way with his legs, rushing 27 times for 213 yards and 3 touchdowns. Isaiah Gash rushed for 94 yards and a score as well.

Fall River -- The Pirates took over sole possession of first place in the Trailways-Small on Friday, knocking off previously unbeaten Johnson Creek 15-6. Johnson Creek entered the game averaging 44 points per game, but the Pirates' defense proved to be very strong, helped by the return of linebacker Sam Nelson, who recorded 19 tackles as the unit held the Bluejays to just 144 total yards of offense.

La Crosse Central -- Central and rival La Crosse Logan met up for the 91st time on Friday in what is an annual showdown for the Ark of Victory. Central trailed 12-8 at halftime and 18-8 early in the third quarter, but stuck with it, coming back to score what proved to be the game-winning touchdown on a 37-yard Johnny Davis to Greg Kohler pass with 3:41 left in the game for a 24-18 victory. Davis finished with 179 yards and one score, completing 11 of 19 passes.Matt Johnson also threw a touchdown pass.

Prairie du Chien -- The Blackhawks made the postseason in 2015, marking the only year since 2010 that the team has qualified for the postseason. While Prairie du Chien still needs one more win to secure their spot, the Blackhawks took a huge step not only towards postseason qualification, but a possible conference title with a 21-14 win over fellow unbeaten Platteville on Friday. It was a tight game throughout, with the teams tied at 14 entering halftime. Prairie got the only score after the break, a one-yard plunge from quarterback Gavin Gillitzer. Tyler Smock did much of the heavy lifting in the game, rushing 29 times for 290 yards and one touchdown.

Wisconsin Rapids -- The 116th meeting between Wisconsin Rapids and Marshfield took on some increased importance, as both teams are legitimately in the playoff hunt for the first time in several seasons. Not only that, but in a wild and wacky VFA-West, first place was on the line in the match-up of two-loss clubs. Nash Coombs dashed 74 yards for the game-winning score in the fourth quarter, and Thomas Grube secured a acrobatic leaping interception in the end zone to close things out in a 28-21 win for Rapids. Coombs had just three rush attempts in the game but finished with 111 yards. Isaac Pelot added 103 yards on the ground, while Jacob Mancl threw for 167 yards and two touchdowns.
