Wisconsin Sports Network and WisSports.net are proud to announce Kimberly's Boyd Dietzen as the 2017 recipient of the Tim Krumrie Award as the most outstanding senior defensive lineman in Wisconsin, part of the WSN Senior Football Awards.

Dietzen is a Wisconsin commit who earned First Team All-Conference, Defensive Lineman of the Year, and Defensive Player of the Year recognition in the VFA-North as a senior.

"Boyd is an extremely athletic defensive end," said head coach Steve Jones. "He is very physical, is incredibly quick off the ball, and plays with a high motor. I feel he is one of the best defensive players in the entire state."

Recently announced as a First Team WFCA All-State pick and the WFCA Defensive Player of the Year, he has 61 tackles, 12 tackles for loss, and 8 sacks as the Papermakers are in the state title game once again.

Finalists for the award were Dietzen, Seth Bickett of Pewaukee, R.J. Clarke of Saint Francis, Josh Dinga of Sun Prairie, Blake Fehrmann of Brookfield Central, Cole Godbout of Hudson, Will McDonald of Waukesha North, Eli Rivera of Shorewood/Messmer, Cormac Sampson of Eau Claire Memorial, and Cole Wright of Stevens Point.

Past winners of the award include Kimberly's Mike Hardy (2009), Edgar's Jeff Raymond (2010), Marshfield's Trevor Peterson (2011), Brookfield East's Alec James (2012), Arrowhead's Billy Hirschfeld (2013), Homestead's David Pfaff (2014), Amherst's Tyler Biadasz (2015), and Franklin's Hawk Wimmer (2016).

The award is named after Tim Krumrie, a graduate of Mondovi High School who went on to play for the University of Wisconsin and 12 seasons in the National Football League. Krumrie walked-on to the Badger football team, but quickly made an impression. He led the Badgers in tackles all four years, and was a three-time All-Big Ten selection. He still holds the all-time record for solo tackles and is third on the total tackles list. Drafted in the 10th round by the Cincinnati Bengals, Krumrie played in all 16 games as a rookie and went on to start 161 games in his career. He made the Pro Bowl in 1987 and 1988, and helped the Bengals to the Super Bowl in 1989. He served as the defensive line coach for the Kansas City Chiefs for four seasons after three years with the Buffalo Bills and eight seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals.
