The WSN15 series will celebrate the 15th Anniversary of WisSports.net by looking back at the top players, teams, and moments of the past 15 years (2003-2017).

For the Top 15 Teams countdown, more than one season of a program was considered for inclusion on the list, as long as the seasons featured different waves of players. For example, the 2008 and 2012 teams of the same school would be considered, but not necessarily the 2012 and 2013 teams.

The Top 15 Teams countdown is not a "Who would beat who?" list, as that would be heavily weighted towards big schools. Factors in determining the Top 15 Teams included: how dominant the team was compared to contemporaries, how impressive the team was in big games, quality of competition faced, number of high-level players, and more.

Top 15 Teams: #4 2009 Edgar Wildcats

The Edgar Wildcats have been one of the premier programs in the state of Wisconsin for decades, as the program won its first state championship under Jerry Sinz in 1979, and have racked up seven championships and four runner-up finishes in total. The team has 78 WIAA playoff victories, the most in state history.

Amongst all the great teams the Wildcats have produced, most feel the 2009 undefeated Division 6 championship team is the best.

Edgar was coming off a runner-up finish the season before, falling 7-3 to rival Stratford in what proved to be the last of six consecutive championships for the Tigers.

The 2009 campaign would begin with a bang, as the Wildcats posted a 39-0 shutout of McDonell Central, who would finish as the Division 7 runner-up that season. What followed was one of the most dominating seasons in state history.

After allowing a third quarter touchdown to Cadott in Week 2 (after already being up 48-0), the Wildcats would post seven consecutive shutouts to close the regular season. That included a 41-0 domination of six-time defending state champion Stratford.

In Level 1 of the playoffs, Edgar defeated Newman Catholic 41-7, as Newman scored late in the fourth quarter after Edgar was already ahead 41-0. Back-to-back 50-0 victories over Coleman and Pacelli followed, though the Wildcats would defeat Hurley in the state semi-final "only" 25-0.

In a state title game matchup against Regis, Edgar dominated throughout, winning 46-7 as Regis scored with five seconds left in the game to avoid a shutout. Edgar rolled up 46 points despite running just 28 offensive plays, as they averaged 10.9 yards per play in the game and possessed the ball for just 10:35, compared to 37:25 for Regis.

All told, Edgar shutout 11 of 14 opponents in 2009, allowing just 20 points all year. All of those points came in the second half, and all but one game (25-0 over Hurley in state semi-finals) finished with a running clock.

Offensively, the team averaged 46.5 points per game, scoring under 39 points just once.

Senior quarterback Justin Sinz, the last of head coach Jerry Sinz's sons to play for him, was named the WFCA Offensive Player of the Year after throwing for 1,897 yards and 25 touchdowns, with 12 rushing scores as well. He also kicked 67 extra points, scored eight, two-point conversions, and had four field goals on the season.

Sinz was also a WFCA All-State choice at defensive back (and Honorable Mention as a kicker). He was joined on the First Team All-State list by defensive lineman Jeff Raymond and defensive end Doug Wagner.

The Wildcats would go on to repeat as state champ in 2010 (shutting out the first seven opponents), adding another title in 2017. However, none were quite so dominant as the 2009 bunch.
