Each week WSN will take a look at the happenings in the Wisconsin Collegiate Conference, which includes many of the two-year campuses in the UW system. A look back at the big performances and news from the week before, a look ahead to some of the big games coming up, plus a Player of the Week will be featured.

There were just three contested women's games in the WCC in the last week, and two of them involved Marathon. The league-leading Huskies squared off with second-place Waukesha on Saturday, and it quickly proved to be no contest. Marathon was up 32-14 at the end of the first quarter, and would not look back, cruising home for a 118-62 victory. Morgan Rachu (Marathon HS) actually lowered her scoring average with 35 points to go with 12 rebounds, while Jayci Blume (Marathon HS) had 28 and Amber Krauser (25) added 25.

On Monday, Marathon traveled north to Escanaba, Michigan to take on Bay College. In the team's closest game of the year, the Huskies held on for a 69-60 win. Rachu had 31 points in the victory. It did end a run of five straight games with at least 100 points, however.

After a big win over Waukesha and a nice road victory over Bay College, UW-Marathon has a couple more solid tests this week. Tonight, the Huskies travel to UW-Fond du Lac, who has not played a game yet in 2018. The Falcons gave Marathon a tough test back in early November, though Marathon scored a 70-60 home victory. Tiffani Anderson (Campbellsport) and Cassidy Williams (Winnebago Lutheran) combined for 41 points, and while they'll need to have a big game again, the Falcons will need more help from other scorers.

On Wednesday, Marathon plays host to UW-Washington, who hasn't played a game since December 13th. The Wildcats are 4-2, but two of the victories have come via forfeit.

UW-Marathon continues to dominate opponents this year, as the high-scoring Huskies average 102 points per game. Many players make big contributions, and second-year forward Amber Krause has shown excellent improvement this season. In the big win over Waukesha last week she scored a career-high 25 points. Krause followed it up with 11 points in Saturday's victory over Bay College.
