D.C. Everest remained in second place in the Wisconsin Valley Conference thanks to the heroics of a talented sophomore guard Friday night.
With a game at Marshfield tied at 64 in the closing seconds, the host Tigers had a chance at the win. However, Marshfield's shot in the lane was no good, as D.C. Everest pulled down the rebound with three seconds left. A quick outlet pass was made to Bryan Halambeck, who caught, turned, and hoisted a shot from six feet behind the half-court line. The buzzer sounded while the ball was in the air, but the basketball found the bottom of the net to give D.C. Everest a 67-64 victory.
Halambeck finished with a game-high 34 points in the victory.
