It was a play that should look very familiar to hoops fans, and it resulted in a 60-59 Hurley victory over Ironwood (MI) Friday night.
Trailing Ironwood (MI) with less than two seconds left, Hurley had to go the length of the court. Scott Subert was the in-bounder, and he did his best Grant Hill impersonation by throwing a long baseball pass down the court. Hurley's Arthur Johnson played the part of Christian Laettner, though he caught the pass a bit further out than the former Duke star. Catching about four feet outside the three point line, he turned and put up a prayer, finding the bottom of the net as Hurley's fans went crazy.
