Senior Girls Basketball Awards: Point Guard Finalists

Wisconsin Sports Network is proud to showcase the WSN High School Basketball Awards.

The pre-season watch list was trimmed down to 15 semi-finalists, and five finalists for the award have now been selected. Winners are announced the week of the state tournament. Finalists are eligible for just one of the five awards. 

Kari Brekke, Appleton North -- Brekke, an honorable mention WBCA all-state pick last season, is averaging 12.8 points per game for Lightning this season. The NCAA Division I New Hampshire recruit helped Appleton North to a Division 1 state championship with an undefeated record last season. The Lightning are 21-4 overall entering their sectional final against Kimberly on Saturday. 

Alina Hampton, Kimberly -- Hampton is averaging 12.5 points, 4 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 1.4 steals per game for the Papermakers. She also has 38 three-pointers. Kimberly is 23-2 entering its sectional final against Appleton North. 

Caitlin Link, Madison Edgewood -- Link averaged 20.4 points, 7 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 3.4 steals per game for the Crusaders who finished the year with a 14-9 record. The Division I Southern Illinois recruit helped Madison Edgewood capture the Division 3 state title last season. 

Tishara Morehouse, Milwaukee King -- Morehouse is averaging 9 points, 4 rebounds, 4.8 assists and 2.5 steals per game for the Generals. Milwaukee King is 20-4 entering its Division 1 sectional final against Oak Creek. She helped the Generals reach the state tournament as a junior. 

Taylor Petit, D.C. Everest -- Petit, the co-Player of the Year in the Wisconsin Valley, averaged 14.8 points, 4.8 rebounds, 4.4 assists and 1.7 steals per game. The NCAA Division I Youngstown State recruit led the Evergreens to a share of the league title and 19-5 overall record.
