The WSN15 series will celebrate the 15th Anniversary of WisSports.net by looking back at the top players, teams, and moments of the past 15 years (2003-2017).

The WSN15 boys' basketball series continues with the Top 15 Teams of the WSN Era.

The star power on the 2008-09 Madison Memorial boys' basketball team bordered on the ridiculous.

Coach Steve Collins' squad included several future NCAA Division I standouts, including Vander Blue (Marquette), Jeronne Maymon (Marquette/Tennessee) and Junior Lomomba (Cleveland State/Providence/Western Kentucky).

It also included some truly outstanding high school players in Tre Creamer, Russell Henderson and Xavier Jones, among others.

Madison Memorial went 21-1 during the regular season and won the Big Eight Conference championship before defeating Monona Grove and Sauk Prairie at the regional level, and Baraboo and Waunakee in the sectional round.

The Spartans' won their two sectional games by an average 26.5 points per game as opponents had a very difficult time matching up with the perimeter firepower of Blue and Creamer, and the inside presence of Maymon. Toss in the slashing ability of Lomomba and it made for a very tricky defensive game plan.

In the quarterfinal round of the WIAA State Tournament at the Kohl Center in Madison, the Spartans turned back Germantown 86-73 behind 35 points from Blue, 18 from Creamer and 11 points and nine rebounds from Maymon.

The Spartans' next contest proved to be, by far, their toughest of the post season.

Madison Memorial survived an overtime period to defeat Bay Port 64-60 as Maymon made six foul shots in overtime after the Pirates had forced the extra session with a three-point play Marcus Ruh.

In the state-title game, the Spartans' held Racine Horlick standout Jamil Wilson to just 4-of-12 shooting from the field en route to a convincing 56-41 triumph. Maymon finished with 25 points and 12 rebounds in a dominating performance while Blue contributed 19 points and 11 rebounds.

Madison Memorial finished 26-1 on the campaign and walked off the Kohl Center floor with a state championship one year after falling a bit short in a 58-56 overtime loss to Wauwatosa East in the 2008 Division 1 title game.
