Wisconsin Sports Network is proud to showcase the WSN High School Basketball Awards.

The pre-season watch list previously was trimmed to 15 semi-finalists, and now five finalists for the award have been selected. Winners are announced the week of the state tournament. Finalists are eligible for just one of the five awards. There will be a total of 25 finalists for the five awards, five different players for each award.

Senior Boys Basketball Awards -- Post Finalists

Grant Basile, 6-9, Pewaukee -- The rapid improvement of Basile from his sophomore season, when he averaged 2.9 points as a little-used reserve on the Pewaukee varsity squad, to his senior season, when he averaged 24.4 ppg, has been remarkable. The versatile forward is headed to NCAA Division I Wright State on a basketball scholarship and has the ability to score both inside and from the perimeter. Basile scored a career-high 49 in a win over Milwaukee Vincent and then had 39 in a triumph over New Berlin West. His solid all-around play has helped Pewaukee to a 22-2 record and the title in the Woodland West Conference.

Patrick Cartier, 6-7, Brookfield East -- An exceptionally skilled post player with outstanding hands and footwork in the lane, Cartier is a steal for NCAA Division II Hillsdale College in Michigan. The three-year varsity performer and 1,000-point career scorer netted a career-best 35 points in a late-season loss to Sussex Hamilton. He is averaging 22.1 ppg for coach Joe Rux and the Spartans, who take a 22-2 record into the sectionals this week.

Joe Grundhoffer, 6-6, Assumption -- A Man Mountain in the middle for Assumption, Grundhoffer is a two-time Player of the Year in the highly competitive Southern Division of the Marawood Conference. A four-year varsity player for coach Gary Weisenbeck and a 1,000-point career scorer, Grundhoffer is averaging 18.7 points and 7.3 rebounds for the Royals, who take a 20-5 record into the sectional round of the WIAA playoffs. Grundhoffer, who is headed to Lafayette University to play college football, is shooting 54 percent from the field and 78 percent from the foul line.

Jack Plumb, 6-8, Bay Port -- It's refreshing when football-first guys like Plumb and Grundhoffer opt to play basketball during their senior years. Like Grundhoffer, Plumb is a monster in the paint and a four-year player who has scored more than 1,000 career points. The Player of the Year in the Fox River Classic Conference is averaging 14.4 points and 8.8 rebounds for coach Nate Rykal and the Pirates, who take a 20-4 mark in the sectionals this week. Plumb will play college football at Iowa.

Jake Schroeckenthaler, 6-7, Monona Grove -- An extremely efficent post player, Schroeckenthaler finishes around the basket at a very high rate for coach Dan Zweifel and the Silver Eagles, who won the Badger South title and take a 23-1 record into WIAA sectional play. Schroeckenthaler led the Badger South in scoring at 19.9 ppg and scored more than 1,000 career points in three years of varsity competition.
