Senior Boys Basketball Awards: Wing Finalists

Wisconsin Sports Network is proud to showcase the WSN High School Basketball Awards.

The pre-season watch list previously was trimmed to 15 semi-finalists, and now five finalists for the award have been selected. Winners are announced the week of the state tournament. Finalists are eligible for just one of the five awards. There will be a total of 25 finalists for the five awards, five different players for each award.

Senior Boys Basketball Awards -- Wing Finalists

JC Butler, 6-5, The Prairie School -- Butler scored 2,090 points during his four years of prep basketball at The Prairie School in Racine. The NCAA Division I recruit for UC-Irvine averaged 26.6 points and 8.2 rebounds this season while shooting 62 percent from the field, 76 percent from the foul line and 35 percent from three-point range while helping the Hawks to a 21-5 record and a spot in the WIAA Division 4 sectional finals. Butler is a two-time Player of the Year in the Metro Classic Conference and led the Hawks of coach Jason Atanasoff to the league title this winter.

Tyler Herro, 6-5, Whitnall -- The Kentucky recruit was simply outstanding all season long for the Falcons, who finished with a 20-5 record and won a share of the Woodland East Conference title with Brown Deer. Herro averaged 32.9 points, 7.8 rebounds and 3.8 assists while shooting 50 percent from the floor, 86 percent from the free throw line and 42 percent from three-point range. Herro scored 35 or more points 12 times this winter and finished his stellar four-year prep career with 2,036 points. 

Keshawn Justice, 6-6, Madison East -- A NCAA Division I recruit for Santa Clara of the West Coast Conference, Justice averaged 20.2 points, 10.4 rebounds and 3.4 assists for the Purgolders, who finished with a 19-7 record. A four-year varsity performer for coach Matt Miota, Justice shot 53 percent from the field, 72 percent from the line and 36 percent from three-poitn range. He scored 1,514 points during his stellar prep career and earned first-team all-Big Eight Conference honors in each of the past two seasons. 

Mitch Listau, 6-4, Waunakee -- Like the others on this list, Listau is a four-year varsity performer. He averaged 23.3 points as a senior while helping Waunakee to a 22-3 record. The NCAA Division I recruit for Belmont University scored 1,829 career points and earned first-team all-league honors in the Badger North Conference the past three seasons. Listau was chosen Player of the Year in the league the past two seasons. 

Marlon Ruffin, 6-4, Sun Prairie -- The Player of the Year in the Big Eight Conference, Ruffin has been outstanding for coach Jeff Boos and the state-bound Cardinals. Ruffin averaged 17.4 points per game as Sun Prairie won the league title and takes a 25-1 record into the WIAA Division 1 State Tournament. Ruffin has scored 1,055 points during his three-year varsity career and owns a NCAA Division II scholarship offer from Minnesota Moorhead  as well as a preferred walkon option with the University of Wisconsin.
