Appleton North won its second consecutive Division 1 state championship, beating Mukwonago 45-32 in the title game.

The Lightning never trailed in the game. They scored the first 10 points of the contest and led 23-17 at halftime.

Appleton North (24-4) opened the second half with a 16-2 run and led 39-19 with 12:17 remaining. They cruised the rest of the way for the victory.

The Lightning were the 4-seed in the first year of seeding the state tournament qualifiers. They used the extra motivation to their advantage and played like the favorite instead of the bottom seed in the Division 1 field.

Senior and UW-Milwaukee recruit Sydney Levy finished with a game-high 17 points, and added 7 rebounds, 2 steals and an assist for Appleton North.

Fellow senior Kari Brekke, a New Hampshire recruit, contributed 11 points, 3 rebounds and an assist for the Lightning.

Mukwonago (25-3) was led by junior Natalie Anderson who finished with 13 points, 5 rebounds and a steal.
