Pewaukee's Grant Basile has been selected as the top senior Post player as part of the WSN Senior Boys Basketball Awards.

The rapid improvement of Basile from his sophomore season, when he averaged 2.9 points as a little-used reserve on the Pewaukee varsity squad, to his senior season, when he averaged 24.4 ppg, has been remarkable.

The versatile forward, who averaged 13.7 rpg and shot 67 percent from the floor, is headed to NCAA Division I Wright State on a basketball scholarship and has the ability to score both inside and from the perimeter.

Basile scored a school-record 49 in a win over Milwaukee Vincent and had a school-record 23 rebounds in games against both Vincent and Whitnall. His solid all-around play helped Pewaukee to a 23-3 record and the title in the Woodland West Conference.

Finalists for the award were Basile, Brookfield East's Patrick Cartier, Assumption's Joe Grundhoffer, Monona Grove's Jack Schroeckenthaler and Bay Port's Jack Plumb.

Past winners of the award include Owen Hamilton of Prescott (2017), Taurus Adams II of Brown Deer (2016), Diamond Stone of Dominican (2015), Davante Jackson of Brown Deer (2014), Luke Fischer of Germantown (2013), and Luke Heller of D.C. Everest (2012).

WSN Senior Basketball Awards are selected by WisSports.net staff.
