Whitnall's Tyler Herro selected as state's top senior Wing player

Whitnall's Tyler Herro has been selected as the top senior Wing as part of the WSN Senior Boys Basketball Awards.

The Kentucky recruit was simply outstanding all season long for the Falcons, who finished with a 20-5 record and won a share of the Woodland East Conference title with Brown Deer.

Herro averaged 32.9 points, 7.8 rebounds and 3.8 assists while shooting 50 percent from the floor, 86 percent from the free throw line and 42 percent from three-point range. He scored 35 or more points 12 times this winter and finished his stellar four-year prep career with 2,036 points. 

Finalists for the award were Herro, JC Butler of The Prairie School, Keshawn Justice of Madison East, Mitch Listau of Waunakee and Marlon Ruffin of Sun Prairie. 

Past winners of the award include La Crosse Central's Kobe King (2017), Stevens Point's Sam Hauser (2016), Rice Lake's Henry Ellenson (2015), Kevon Looney of Milwaukee Hamilton (2014), Nick Fuller of Sun Prairie (2013), and Sam Dekker of Sheboygan Lutheran (2012).
