Seniors Hayden Baughman of McDonell Central, Luke Reader of Bangor, and Nate Siewert of Deerfield were named unanimous First Team All-State selections for the 2017-18 season by the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association. Baughman is a repeat selection, while Reader has earned the honor three times.

Baughman has been a starter on three straight state tournament teams, helping the Macks to a title in 2016 and runner-up finish this year. The 6’5” senior wing player averaged 21.3 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 3.9 assists per game. The Concordia-St. Paul commit was also an All-State choice last season.

Reader is a WBCA All-State selection for the third straight year, as the Cardinals ran roughshod over the division to a state championship. He averaged 15.9 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 4.4 assists per contest as a two-time Player of the Year in the Scenic Bluffs Conference.

Siewert led the Demons to the Division 5 state tournament for the first time in school history, as the team shared the Trailways-South Conference title. The league’s Player of the Year, the 6’4” senior averaged 17.4 points and 10.2 rebounds per game.

Noah Allen of Seneca helped the Indians to a top-five ranking most of the season, Ridge & Valley Conference championship, and 22-3 overall record. The co-Player of the Year with teammate Jared Payne, Allen led the team in scoring at 19.2 points per contest, adding 5.8 rebounds and 3.1 assists.

Kauy Fargo of Barneveld was a starter during the team’s 2017 championship run, but took on a much bigger role this season. The Six Rivers-East Player of the Year, he led the conference with a 20.0 point per game average as the Eagles shared the league title.

Joe Grundhoffer of Assumption is a two-time Player of the Year in the Marawood-South Conference and three time all-league choice. The 6’6” senior forward, who will play D1 football at Lafayette, averaged 18.5 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game for the Royals.

Sheboygan Lutheran’s Jared Jurss earned Second Team All-Conference as a sophomore and junior, and upped it to First Team recognition as a senior, averaging 15.9 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 7.0 assists per game. The 6’3” senior helped the Crusaders to a second place finish in the very competitive Big East Conference.

Noah Kollock of Almond-Bancroft took home Player of the Year honors in the CWC-South, as the Eagles finished the season 18-7. Already a two-time All-Conference pick, the 6’1” junior averaged 22.8 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 2.8 assists per game for Almond-Bancroft this season.

Hustisford’s Justin Kuehl is just a junior, but has already been named the Player of the Year in his conference twice. That includes this season, when the Falcons finished second in the Trailways-East and Kuehl averaged 26.2 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 4.0 assists per ballgame.

Nick Malovrh of Columbus Catholic was a key part of last year’s team that advanced to the state tournament, further improving his game as a senior. He upped his scoring average to 19.7 per game, earning Player of the Year recognition in the Cloverbelt-West Conference.

Samuel Meerstein of Green Bay NEW Lutheran helped the Blazers turn it on in the postseason, as the team rallied from a 10-12 regular season record to advance to the Division 5 state tournament. Meerstein was the catalyst, as the 6’4” junior averaged a team-best 21.2 points per game to go with 6.8 rebounds and 3.5 assists.
