Tyler Denu, Mount Horeb baseball: Denu hurled a perfect game in his first start of the 2018 season, shutting down Lodi in a 10-0, five-inning Vikings victory last Wednesday. It is the second perfect game of his career, as he also accomplished the feat in a 4-0 win over Portage last season.

Maddie Gardner, Sun Prairie softball: It was a nice little way to begin the year for the Cardinals, who beat Middleton 5-1 in a Big Eight conference game, as Gardner pitched a no-hitter, striking out 16 batters.

Kayley Manglitz, Onalaska girls soccer: Manglitz scored five goals as the Hilltoppers' girls soccer team opened the 2018 season with a 9-0 shutout of Arcadia last Tuesday.

Peyton Miller, Hillsboro baseball: After a rough 2017 season, the Tigers opened 2018 with a bang, rallying with five runs in the bottom of the 7th inning, all scoring with two outs, to score a walk-off win over highly-ranked Webster, 8-7. Miller drove in the game-winning run with a single up the middle to plate Dane Bach. Miller finished 2-4 in the contest with an RBI, a run scored, and two steals.

Elsi Twombly, Kimberly girls soccer: The Papermakers opened their season with a big road non-conference test against six-time defending state champion Catholic Memorial. The only goal of the contest came via Twombly, who knocked home a goal in the 25th minute to help Kimberly to the victory last Thursday.
