Below are the PlayInTheDells.com Athlete of the Week Nominees for the week of May 21 through 27. Voting is open until Thursday at 4pm, so be sure to vote for who you feel is most deserving and spread the word. Users may vote once per day.

PlayInTheDells.com Athlete of the Week Nominees: May 21-27

Trent Ehlers, Sturgeon Bay baseball: Ehlers helped the Clippers overcome a 4-run deficit to defeat Chilton 6-5 in a WIAA Division 2 regional contest on Thursday. He hit an RBI double to get the Clippers on the board in the 4th inning. Trent came up big in the next inning, hitting a 2-run home run to give the Clippers a 6-5 lead which was ultimately the game-winner. Sturgeon Bay (15-3) will face Denmark in a regional semifinal on Tuesday. 

Abby Freismuth, Fond du Lac softball: Freismuth led the Cardinals to a 5-3 upset win against top-ranked Oshkosh North in a WIAA Division 1 regional final on Thursday, 5-3. Abby finished with 6 strikeouts in the circle, including all three in the 7th inning. The final strikeout came with the tying runs on base for Oshkosh North who had not lost to a Wisconsin team prior to the contest. Fond du Lac (11-12) will face Oshkosh West in a sectional semifinal on Tuesday.  

Sam Olson, West Salem girls soccer: Olson helped the Panthers clinch the Mississippi Valley Conference title on Thursday. She scored both of the Panthers' goals in their 2-1 win over Aquinas (D4 #3) to secure the outright title and their first win over the Blugolds in the programs 13-year history. On Tuesday, Olson netted a pair of goals in a 4-1 win over Holmen. The junior forward has 10 goals this season. West Salem (11-2) finishes up the regular season against Arcadia on Tuesday before facing Mauston in a WIAA Division 3 regional contest on Thursday. 

Evan Ruplinger, Clinton baseball: Ruplinger helped the Cougars knock off 3-seed Big Foot, 4-0, in a WIAA Division 2 regional contest. He went 3-for-4 with 4 RBI in the victory. Clinton (5-14) will face 2-seed Jefferson in a regional semifinal on Tuesday. 

Jaida Speth, Delavan-Darien softball: Speth allowed just three hits and struck out 8 in the Comets' 1-0 upset win against top-ranked Beloit Turner in a WIAA Division 2 regional final on Friday. Jaida, a IUPUI recruit, also went 1-for-3 at the plate. In a regional on Wednesday, Speth pitched 12 innings and tallied 18 strikeouts in the Comets' 4-1 win over Pewaukee. She also went 2-for-5 at the plate with a runs scored. Delavan-Darien (8-14) will play Monroe in a sectional semifinal on Tuesday.
