Senior Softball Awards: Pitcher Finalists

Wisconsin Sports Network is proud to showcase the WSN Senior Softball Awards

The pre-season watch list has been trimmed down to six finalists. Winners are announced the week of the softball state tournament.

WSN Senior Softball Awards -- Pitcher Finalists:

Brittany Baneck, Green Bay Preble -- Baneck was named FRCC co-Player of the Year. She posted a 19-5 record with 205 strikeouts and a 2.10 ERA in 122 2/3 innings pitched. The UW-Green Bay recruit also recorded a no-hitter this season. Baneck was also excelled at the plate, she hit .602 with 50 hits, 10 home runs, 41 RBI and 33 runs scored. Green Bay Preble finished the season with a 21-6 record; the Hornets' year ended with a 3-0 loss to Appleton North in a Division 1 sectional final. 

Payton Dorn, Freedom --  Dorn was voted North Eastern Player of the Year this season. She went 23-4 in the circle with 288 strikeouts while posting a 0.89 ERA in 172 2/3 innings. Payton also recorded 3 no-hitters on the season. At the plate, she hit .481 with 39 hits, 3 home runs, 11 doubles and 20 RBI. Freedom ended the year with a 23-4 record; the Irish fell to Winneconne in a Division 2 sectional semifinal. 

Becca Oleniczak, Oak Creek -- Oleniczak has led Oak Creek to the state tournament this season. She has a 17-2 record with 169 strikeouts while carrying a 1.41 ERA in 119 innings pitched. At the plate, she is hitting .557 with 44 hits, 33 RBI and 25 runs scored. She is carrying a 1.025 slugging percentage; 8 home runs, 11 doubles and a triple. Oak Creek is 22-3 entering the Division 1 state tournament. 

Kailyn Packard, Beloit Turner -- Packard posted a 12-0 record with 142 strikeouts and didn't allow an earned run. Her season was unfortunately cut short after suffering a knee injury on May 1. She twirled 6 no-hitters and and recorded a career-high 20 strikeouts in a game this season. At the plate, she hit .558 with 25 RBI. She is committed to play for University of Missouri-Kansas City. Beloit Turner ended the year with a 20-1 record, falling to Delavan-Darien in a Division 2 regional final, 1-0. 

Cheyenne Sowinski, New Berlin West -- Sowinski, the reigning Woodland-West Player of the Year, posted a 19-3 record this season with 187 strikeouts and a 0.91 ERA in 123 innings pitched. She posted six shutouts on the season as well. At the plate, Cheyenne batted .500 with 32 RBI and 21 runs scored. New Berlin West, D2 state champions in 2016, finished the year with a 22-4 record; the Vikings season ended with an 11-4 loss to state qualifier Whitnall in a sectional semifinal. 

Alyssa Vilkoski, Greenfield -- Vilkoski posted a 20-2 record with 258 strikeouts and a 0.82 ERA in 137 1/3 innings. She also recorded a no-hitter this season. At the plate, she hit .475 with 4 home runs and 28 RBI. Vilkoski is the reigning Woodland-East Player of the Year. Greenfield ended the year with a 24-2 record, falling to Muskego 6-1 in a Division 1 regional final.
