Senior Softball Awards: Infielder/Catcher Finalists

Wisconsin Sports Network is proud to showcase the WSN Senior Softball Awards

The pre-season watch list has been trimmed down to six finalists. Winners are announced the week of the softball state tournament.

WSN Senior Softball Awards -- Infielder/Catcher Finalists:

Megan Donahue, Marshfield -- Donahue was named Wisconsin Valley co-Player of the Year. She hit .625 with 60 hits, 54 RBI and 48 runs scored; posted a 1.365 slugging percentage with 60 hits, 17 home runs, 16 doubles and 2 triples. Marshfield went 22-5 this season, falling to state qualifier Chippewa Falls, 7-2, in a Division 1 sectional semifinal. 

Paige Hintz, Pacelli -- Hintz was chosen as the CWC-South Player of the Year as a senior. She is hitting .568 with 46 hits, 35 RBI and 49 runs scored; has a .938 slugging percentage with 14 doubles, 5 triples and 2 home runs. She is also 14-for-15 on stolen bases. Behind the plate, she has allowed just 6 stolen bases and threw out four baserunners; posting a .976 fielding percentage. Pacelli, last year's D4 state runner-up, is 25-0 entering its state semifinal against Horicon. 

Kayla Kerkman, Westosha Central -- Kerkman posted a .467 batting average with 50 hits, 16 RBI and 41 runs scored. She also recorded 23 stolen bases and was caught just three times. At shortstop, she had over 90 chances and finished with a .922 fielding percentage. Westosha Central ended the season with a 20-9 record, falling to Southern Lakes foe Burlington 6-4 in a Division 1 sectional final. 

Kaylee Learman, Greenwood -- Learman, last year's Division 5 WFSCA Player of the Year, hit .634 with 26 hits, 27 RBI, and 30 runs scored. She posted a 1.049 slugging percentage with 8 doubles and 3 home runs, while getting walked 33 times (31 intentional). Kaylee also went 14-4 in the circle with 139 strikeouts. Greenwood finished the season with an 11-6 record, falling to Division 5 state qualifier McDonell Central, 8-5, in a sectional semifinal. 

Savanna Rainey, Verona -- Rainey, a Wisconsin recruit, was named first team all-Big Eight this season. She hit .328 with 28 RBI and 19 runs scored. Savanna hit 5 home runs, 5 doubles, 3 triples and was walked 20 times. Behind the plate, she posted a .994 fielding percentage and threw out 11 runners and allowed just 4 steals. Verona finished the season with a 18-5 record, falling to conference foe Sun Prairie, 10-1, in a Division 1 sectional semifinal. 

Katie Tews, Sun Prairie -- Tews was voted first team all-Big Eight as a senior. She is hitting .634 with 55 hits, 42 RBI and 42 runs scored. Katie has a .862 slugging percentage; totaling 8 doubles and 6 triples. She also is a perfect 13-for-13 on stolen base attempts. The Yale University recruit has a .925 fielding percentage. Sun Prairie enters the state tournament with a perfect 26-0 record.
