Kayla Kerkman of Westosha Central selected as the top Infielder/Catcher by WSN

Westosha Central's Kayla Kerkman has been selected as the top senior infielder/catcher as part of the WSN Senior Softball Awards

Kerkman posted a .459 batting average an .933 OPS with 51 hits, 16 RBI and 42 runs scored. She also recorded 23 stolen bases and was caught just three times. 

At shortstop, she had over 90 chances and finished with a .922 fielding percentage.

The Winona State recruit broke the school record for stolen bases in a season and was near the top of the single season list in hits, singles and runs scored in program history. 

As a junior, Kerkman was named first team all-Southern Lakes and WFSCA Honorable Mention All-District. 

Westosha Central ended the season with a 20-9 record, falling to Southern Lakes foe Burlington 6-4 in a Division 1 sectional final. 

Finalists for the award were Kerkman, Marshfield's Megan Donahue, Pacelli's Paige Hintz, Greenwood's Kaylee Learman, Verona's Savanna Rainey and Sun Prairie's Katie Tews.
