Rice Lake senior Kenneth Bednarek has been selected as the PlayInTheDells.com Athlete of the Week for the week of May 28 through June 3 after a vote on WSN.

There were 2,318 votes this week; Bednarek received 1,220 votes, and Maddy Anderson of Waukesha North finished second with 610.

Bednarek won three State Track & Field Championships and set Division 2 meet records in all three, while also helping the Warriors to the Division 2 state title.

He won the 100, 200 and 400-meter dashes.

Kenneth set records in the 100 and 200 dashes in prelim runs of 10.42 and 20.43. He also posted record run of 46.73 in the 400-meter finals.

Bednarek's 200 time is the all-division record in state meet history; breaking former Milwaukee Tech star Michael Bennett’s record of 20.68 that was set in 1998.

Kenneth is committed to Indian Hills Community College in Iowa.
