Janesville Craig's Jacob Campbell has been selected as the top senior Infielder/Catcher as part of the WSN Senior Baseball Awards.

Campbell earned First Team All-State recognition from the Wisconsin Baseball Coaches Association last year. After another superior season, he has already been named the Player of the Year in the Big Eight, with more recognition to come.

Despite a strong commitment to play collegiately at the University of Illinois, Campbell was drafted by the Chicago Cubs in the 36th round of the Major League Baseball Amateur Draft last week.

As a senior, Campbell hit .429 with 14 extra-base hits, 3 home runs, 25 RBI, and 33 runs scored. He posted a whopping 1.226 OPS while being success of on 25-of-26 stolen base attempts. Behind the dish, he allowed just one stolen base all season, as the Cougars have qualified for the WIAA Division 1 State Tournament this week.

Finalists for the award were Campbell, Peter Brookshaw of Prescott, Hunter Gustafson of Webster, Jeff Holtz of Arrowhead, and Colten Schild of Fox Valley Lutheran.

Past winners of the award include Prescott's Billy Brookshaw (2012), Bay Port's Drew Neuville (2013), Marshfield's Daulton Varsho (2014), Jefferson's Nick Schrader (2015), Kenosha Indian Trail's Gavin Lux (2016), and Oconomowoc's Zach Clayton (2017).
