The WSN15 series will celebrate the 15th Anniversary of WisSports.net by looking back at the top players, teams, and moments of the past 15 years (2003-2017).

We begin our WSN15 girls' basketball series with the Top 15 Moments of the WSN Era.

After spending its first 37 years in Madison, the WIAA girls' basketball state tournament moved to the Resch Center in Green Bay in 2013.

The initial decision by the WIAA Board of Control to move the state tournament to Green Bay resulted from scheduling conflicts with the Kohl Center.

Originally a two-year deal to move the state tournament to Green Bay, that deal has since been extended twice with current deal running through 2025.

There was skepticism at the onset of the decision, but after the first year with all of the welcome signs and the atmosphere in and around the Resch Center, the move proved to be a great decision by the WIAA.

For the 15 years prior to the move, the state tournament bounced around between three venues in Madison and that was less than ideal for girls basketball.

Next season will mark the seventh year that the Resch Center has hosted the WIAA girls' basketball state tournament.

The average attendance in the past six years in Green Bay has been 37,486 compared to an average of 33,533 in the final three years the Kohl Center hosted.

In the first 22 years (1976-1997) the state tournament was held exclusively at the University of Wisconsin Fieldhouse.

Prior to moving to Green Bay, the state tournament bounced around between the Kohl Center (1998, 2001, 2003, 2005 and 2010-2012), UW Fieldhouse (1999, 2000, 2002), and Alliant Energy Center (2004 and 2006-2009).
