The WSN15 series will celebrate the 15th Anniversary of WisSports.net by looking back at the top players, teams, and moments of the past 15 years (2003-2017).

We begin our WSN15 girls' basketball series with the Top 15 Moments of the WSN Era.

On March 14, 2009 history was made by Milwaukee Vincent.

The Vikings became just the second Division 1 school in girls basketball history to capture three consecutive state titles.

After splitting regular season matchups, Milwaukee Vincent edged Milwaukee City Conference foe Milwaukee King, 48-47, in the Division 1 state championship game at the Alliant Energy Center in Madison.

Chelan Landry led Milwaukee Vincent with 17 points, including going 13-for-14 from the free throw line, and added 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals. Landry played collegiately at Wyoming.

Nicole Griffin finished with 11 points, including going 9-for-12 from on free throws, and added 8 rebounds, 2 blocks and a steal for coach Marquis Hines and the Vikings.

Griffin was named Miss Basketball by the WBCA the next season and went on to play at Oklahoma. She is currently the director of operations at Youngstown State.

There were five lead changes and was tied on six other occasions. Milwaukee King held a six-point lead, 42-36, with 5:06 remaining after Sarina Simmons hit a pair of free throws. Milwaukee Vincent stormed back to take a 44-43 lead with 3:10 left and the Vikings would not relinquish the lead the rest of the way.

The contest featured 60 turnovers, with 35 of them coming from Milwaukee Vincent. The Vikings were able to capitalize at the free throw line, going 26 of 35 compared to Milwaukee King going just 7 of 16 from the charity stripe.

Simmons, who went on to play at Marquette, led Milwaukee King with 18 points, 13 rebounds and 5 steals.

Rachel Story, who played collegiately at Louisville and Illinois Chicago, tallied 14 points, 3 steals and 2 assists for coach Craig Machut and the Generals. Story is entering her first year as the head coach at Milwaukee Marshall.

Milwaukee Vincent joined Milwaukee Washington (1994-96) on the list of Division 1 schools to achieve the feat, and fourth school overall to win three straight state titles; Cuba City (2005-07) and Flambeau (2006-08).

The Vikings defeated Sheboygan North, 49-45, in the 2007 state championship game and Oshkosh West, 49-37, in the 2008 title game.
