Air National Guard Week 2 Team of the Week Nominees:

Bangor -- The defending Division 7 state champions had a tough 14-0 win over Melrose-Mindoro last week, then faced off against a Loyal team coming off an impressive victory against larger Ellsworth in their first contest. The Cardinals showed they are ready to contend again this year with a 28-6 win over Loyal, racking up more than 300 yards on the ground. It was a balanced attack, with six players getting at least four carries.

Madison Memorial -- The Spartans posted one of the most surprising wins of Week 1 in defeating Sun Prairie, last year's D1 runner-up. Memorial showed no signs of slowing down, defeating crosstown rival Madison La Follette 37-13 this week. New head coach Mike Harris, who formerly coached at La Follette, has a more physical group this year that held La Follette to less than 150 yards of offense. Memorial running back Kam Marshall carried the ball 31 times for 181 yards and two touchdowns in the win.

Neenah -- Neenah shared the VFA-South title with Fond du Lac last year and started the year ranked in the top ten of Division 1, but there were still some questions about how good the Rockets are and can be in 2018. They took a huge step in answering those with a thrilling 22-19 win over Appleton North last Friday. The Rockets trailed entering the fourth quarter, and were down by five in the final minutes of the game before Sam Dietrich found Logan Morrow from 15 yards out to provide the game-winning score with just 52 seconds remaining.

New Berlin Eisenhower -- Eisenhower was the Division 3 runner-up last year and has opened the 2018 season with impressive wins over Plymouth and rival Pewaukee. Taking down the Pirates of Pewaukee in Week 2, Eisenhower's defense showed it is among the state's elite units once again, limiting Pewaukee to just 81 yards of offense in a 31-0 victory. The Lions' offense ground out 230 rushing yards and two scores on 43 carries, with Jack Himmelspach going for 100 yards.

Saint Mary's Springs -- Springs made sure the Game of the Week didn't turn out to be much of a game, dominating three-time defending Division 5 state champion Amherst, 34-0. Springs did it despite losing two-way standout Ezra Tucker early in the game. Quarterback Mitchell Waechter had more than 200 total yards of offense for the Ledgers, who have beaten Amherst in a non-conference game each of the past three years.
