The Richland Center Hornets have been selected as the Week 3 Air National Guard Team of the Week following a statewide vote on WSN. The team ended the state's longest active losing streak with a tight win over Luther. The Hornets were chosen from a strong group of nominees in Week 3. A total of 8,403 votes were cast, as Richland Center's 3,876 votes edged Janesville Craig's 3,623 votes.

The Hornets ended the state's longest active losing streak at 42 games, topping Luther 30-24. It was a back-and-forth affair, with RC taking the lead for good on a Jaren Hill 19-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter. Quarterback Warrick Wolf completed 9-of-18 passes for 137 yards and a score while Hill went for 80 yards on the ground. The losing streak is believed to be the third-longest in state history. Richland Center's last win had come in September of 2013 against Prairie du Chien.

Remember folks, the only way your favorite team can be named Air National Guard Team of the Week is to vote and share the word. Look for the Week 4 nominees to be posted Monday afternoon.
