Dryden Schaefer of Madison Memorial has been selected as the Week 4 Player of the Week following a statewide vote on WisSports.net. His big day helped the Spartans get past Middleton in dramatic fashion in a Big Eight Conference showdown. He was chosen from a strong group of nominees in Week 4. A total of 8,267 votes were cast, as Schaefer's 3,737 were enough to edge second place Seth Kohel of River Falls, who tallied 3,527votes.

Memorial finds itself alone atop the Big Eight standings after a thrilling 30-27 win over Middleton on the road Friday night. Middleton led 27-17 late in the fourth quarter, but Memorial wouldn't give up. Schaefer caught a 26-yard touchdown pass to cut into the lead, and hauled in a 27-yarder on a Hail Mary as time expired for the victory. They were the only two catches of the game for Schaefer, but they were huge plays. Video of the game-winning play can be seen by clicking here.

Remember folks, the only way your favorite player can be named WisSports.net Player of the Week is to vote and share the word. Look for the Week 5 nominees to be posted Monday afternoon.
