PlayInTheDells.com Athlete of the Week Nominees: Dec. 24-30

Will Pytleski, Green Bay Southwest boys basketball: Will had quite the couple of games for Green Bay Southwest in the WBY Shootout at Concordia University this past week. In a 75-64 win over Wisconsin Lutheran, Will poured in 36 points. Then in a tight 47-45 win over Oshkosh West, he added another 24 points. In the victory over Oshkosh West, Will became Green Bay Southwest's all-time leading scorer with 1,167 points.

Nick Otto, Xavier boys basketball: Nick was lights out from the three-point line for Xavier as they picked up two victories in the WBY Shootout. In a 78-62 win over Pius XI, he had 27 points and 10 rebounds. He shot three of six from the beyond the arc in the win. Nick recorded another double-double in a 69-65 win over Kettle Moraine Lutheran. He scored 14 points and hauled in 15 rebounds.

Kalyn Jahn, Holmen wrestling: Kalyn was chasing something that had eluded him the past three years of his prep wrestling career; a Bi-State Classic championship. In each of the past three seasons, Kalyn has finished as a runner-up. This past weekend, he defeated Stratford's Trevor Dennee 9-7 in the finals to claim gold at the 170 pound weight class. Through his first four matches, he got four pins and no match lasted longer than two minutes.

Caelan Givens, Chippewa Falls girls basketball: Caelan had a great week at the Middleton Holiday Shootout as she helped lead Chippewa Falls to a pair of impressive victories. First, Caelan scored a game high 30 points in a 71-65 win over Division 2, eighth-ranked Monroe. Givens, a UW-Green Bay recruit then added 26 points in a 55-47 win over Homestead.

Sydney Hilliard, Monroe girls basketball: Even though Monroe dropped a close one to Chippewa Falls 71-65, Sydney did her best to will her team to victory as she had 23 points and 7 rebounds. She followed that up by recording a double-double, 22 points and 11 rebounds, in a 68-53 win over Muskego. In the victory over Muskego, Sydney became Monroe girls basketball all-time leading scorer. The Wisconsin commit now has 1,621 points in her prep career.
